Despite challenging weather, Simrik Air Helicopter airlifted COVID-19 infected patients from Yalbang to HAMS Hospital Kathmandu on 15th and 16th November 2020 consecutively. On 15th November, a COVID-19 positive patient was evacuated in Simrik Air's helicopter having a call sign 9N-AKD with Pilot-In-Command Capt. Surendra Paudel with PIU (Patient Isolation Unit) along with a fully equipped medical team. Similarly on 16th November amidst heavy snowfall, the same helicopter with PIU and fully equipped medical team was deployed from Kathmandu with Pilot-In-Command Capt. We would like to thank Dr. Kamal Thapa and Dr. Ram Krishna Budhathoki who led the paramedic team with Mr. Phurba Sherpa and Mr. Bali Jung Shahi along with Simrik's crew members for successfully completing both the missions above 3,100 meters of altitude with the utmost safety and care. This is the first mission conducted by Simrik Air at a higher altitude to airlift the COVID-19 infected patients. Till date, Simrik has airlifted 41 COVID-19 infected patients from Butwal, Lahan, Bharatpur, Biratnagar, Palpa, Birtamod, Jumla, Dharan, Pokhara, Bhadrapur, Dhangadhi, Birgunj, Okhaldhunga, Gaighat, Sauraha and Yalbang (Humla) in its helicopter with pre-hospital care.
