Giving continuity to airlifting the COVID-19 infected patients by helicopter from all over Nepal, on 2nd November 2020, Simrik Air Helicopter transferred a patient from Dhangadhi to Kathmandu Mediciti Hospital. Pilot-In-Command Capt. Bimal Sharma flew from Kathmandu with PIU (Patient Isolation Unit) along with fully equipped medical team in the helicopter with the call sign 9N-AJZ to Dhangadhi for this mission. We equally thank Dr. Vijay Chaudhary who led the paramedic team with Mr. Eek Dev(Ramesh) Neupane from Mediciti Hospital to accomplish the mission. Simrik Air started providing exclusive air ambulance service for COVID-19 positive patients after Nepal Government and Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) provided permission to Simrik Air to carry Coronavirus infected patients adhering to the health and safety guidelines following the protocols of the Ministry of Health and Population and WHO. Simrik has thus dedicated its 02 helicopters exclusively to carry COVID-19 positive patients among 05 helicopters in its fleet. The first infected patient airlifted by Simrik Air Helicopter on Monday, 12th October 2020, was from Butwal to Kathmandu HAMS Hospital in a Patient Isolation Unit - Biological (Negative Pressure) Isolation Chamber, dedicated for carrying patients infected by COVID-19. Till date, Simrik has airlifted 19 COVID-19 infected patients from Butwal, Lahan, Bharatpur, Biratnagar, Palpa, Birtamod, Jumla, Dharan, Pokhara, Bhadrapur, Dhangadhi and Birgunj in its helicopter with pre hospital care.
